My name is Rowan Conway. I am an independent consultant with a Masters in Responsibility and Business Practice. I have over 15 years’ experience working as a communications professional advising public and private sector organisations on stakeholder engagement and strategic communications.
In the run up to the London 2012 Olympic Games I spent four years in a variety of stakeholder engagement advisory roles at the Olympic Delivery Authority working on projects as diverse as local community involvement in the design and planning process to international stakeholder events in the major venues.
Before the Games were even a glint in Ken Livingstone’s eye, I was honing my stakeholder engagement skills with sustainability consultancy Beyond Green where I designed engagement strategies for a range of public bodies including West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust, Lea Valley Regional Park Authority and Tower Hamlets Council.
My roots however, are in publishing and writing – spending the early years of my career as the editor of Strategic Communication Management and Knowledge Management Review. It was in this position that I explored the role of communication in the success or failure of corporate strategy editing countless interviews, case studies and academic papers. It sparked a lifelong interest in how humans communicate and I have never lost my curiosity about it. I still have a love of editorial and am a self-confessed language geek and secret wordsmith.
I have two small children and an active working life, so this blog is simply a vehicle for me to explore my trade and practice the art of writing. If it is read by others – fabulous. If not, don’t mind me, I will still be happily tapping away on it anyway…
